Fundamentals: Catcher

This catchers drill is a fundamental drill for the whole team to participate in. Although in the catching category, these exercises will help all athletes by increasing strength and athleticism. It also helps with receiving the ball in any positon on the baseball field.

Four Corner Receiving

Receiving drill drilling four glove positions. Move from spot-to-spot predictably, allowing athlete to receive baseball at various points.

Foul Line Drill

Cuts & Relays Drill to execute after Fundamentals: Cuts & Relays has been run. Uses foul line and three groups (outfielder, relayman, and bagman) to isolate, teach, and build upon fundamentals.

Five Feeds Drill

Infield drill involving 5 movements: Underhand flip, reverse pivot, dart, backhand flip, and a double-play turn. One live athlete, two receivers, and a target.

Fix Stride Direction

Drill to correct a pitcher’s stride that is too far either open (1st base side) or closed (3rd base side) of the mound. Use an Exagerrated Opposite adjustment to reset the alignment, then bring landing back to middle.

Feet In Concrete

Throwing drill with feet anchored, outside-shoulder width. Broken movements first, then no-stopping. Typically paired with 1-Knee and 2-Knee Catch, or followed by some sort of catch play (even long toss).
